Dynamic Line Rating = higher current, more flexible grid

Dynamic Line Rating allows transmission system operators to dynamically determine the maximum transferable capacity of their lines based on surrounding conditions.

When wind speed and temperature are known with location accuracy and in real time, lines can very often be used safely well beyond their static limit.

Unfortunately, the resolution and predictive capability of weather service models is not sufficient for safe operation.

We measure directly over the entire length of the line. And adjust the forecasts to the actual conditions.

FORM - Fiber Optics for Rating and Measurement

Measurement methods are based on fiber-optic effects - no auxiliary electrical energy is required at the measurement point
Measured values are transmitted exclusively via the existing fiber optic infrastructure
FORM can be installed on existing equipment, disconnection is usually not required
